We were approached by a small local company who were in their first year of organising events. They wanted to put on and organise a three day business seminar and workshop geared towards independent start up entrepreneurs. We spent a lot of time working together and chatting with them to discuss what their vision was, as this was their first ever event. We also were able to use our knowledge and experience in order to make sure the sums added up too.
The venue was a working farm in Sussex, with a huge converted wooden barn and several luxury yurts for talks and conferences. The venue owners were newbies too, and this was their first event since the completion of the renovations!
The organisers were keen to have the whole event catered within the price of the ticket, and were mindful that they were attracting a young London based market, likely to be real foodies, so the food really had to kick ass!
We decided to go for a ‘street food’ theme for the breakfast and lunch service, based on the stalls we love at food festivals and our constant trips to Borough Market. We used local meat suppliers to produce the ultimate barbequed breakfast, as well as healthier options such as fruit and chai pots, bircher muesli, and home made granola, all stunningly presented in jam jars of course!
Lunch was either a hot choice of daily specials or a packed lunch ‘afternoon tea’ to take on a walk.
In the evening, we set up the main barn for a three course dinner every night, and gave full table and wine service. We also ran two fully stocked bars, one with local craft beers.
To send everyone home with a smile on their face, we always finish with a farewell barbecue and hog roast!
The event was such a success- we’ve now planning our fourth year working together with the ‘Happy Start Up’ team, who are all great friends. They travel the world now organising similar conferences in India, South America, and Europe.
“Myself and Carlos wanted to say a huge thank you for making ‘Start-Up’ such a great experience for so many! The response we got back was overwhelming! We were inundated with calls, tweets, facebook posts and emails. Truly sensational”
